Consultative Meeting between the Benghazi Public Prosecutor and the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, with the Participation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya

عُقد في مدينة بنغازي صباح اليوم الثلاثاء لقاء تشاوري جمع المحامي العام في بنغازي، الأستاذ آدم الكيلاني العريبي، ونائب رئيس المجلس الوطني للحريات العامة وحقوق الإنسآن الاستاذة نعيمة العريبي ، بحضور عدد من الحقوقيين بالمجلس ، إلى جانب رئيس قسم حقوق الإنسان والعدالة الانتقالية و سيادة القانون ببعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم في ليبيا، السيد ماركو، والسيدة بشرى، ممثلة القسم بمدينة بنغازي.
وناقش اللقاء سبل تعزيز التعاون والتنسيق بين مكتب المحامي العام، والمجلس الوطني للحريات وحقوق الإنسان، وقسم حقوق الإنسان و سيادة القانون ببعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم في ليبيا، بما يسهم في دعم العدالة وحماية حقوق الإنسان وترسيخ ضمانات المحاكمة العادلة.
كما بحث المشاركون آليات تبادل الخبرات والمعارف القانونية والحقوقية، وإمكانية تنفيذ برامج مشتركة في مجالات التدريب وبناء وتعزيز القدرات، وتطوير الأداء المؤسسي، والرصد والتوثيق الحقوقي، ونشر المعرفة بالمعايير الدولية لحقوق الإنسان وسيادة القانون.
وأكد الحاضرون أهمية تطوير قنوات التواصل والتنسيق بين المؤسسات المعنية، بما يعزز فاعليتها واستقلاليتها، ويدعم ضمان الوصول إلى العدالة وحماية الحقوق والحريات الأساسية، وفقاً للتشريعات الوطنية والالتزامات الدولية ذات الصلة.
ويأتي اللقاء في إطار الجهود الرامية إلى بناء شراكات مؤسسية مستدامة بين الجهات الوطنية والدولية، وتبادل الخبرات والممارسات الفضلى، بما يدعم تطوير منظومة العدالة وتعزيز حماية حقوق الإنسان وسيادة القانون في ليبيا.
Consultative Meeting between the Benghazi Public Prosecutor and the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, with the Participation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya

A consultative meeting was held this Tuesday morning in the city of Benghazi between the Public Prosecutor of Benghazi, Mr. Adam Al-Kilani Al-Aribi, and Ms. Naima Al-Aribi, Deputy Head of the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, in the presence of a number of human rights officers from the Council, as well as Mr. Marco, Head of the Human Rights, Transitional Justice and Rule of Law Section of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), and Ms. Bushra, the Section’s representative in Benghazi.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Office of the Public Prosecutor, the National Council for Public Liberties and Human Rights, and the Human Rights, Transitional Justice and Rule of Law Section of UNSMIL, in a manner that contributes to supporting justice, protecting human rights, and strengthening fair trial guarantees.
The participants also discussed mechanisms for exchanging legal and human rights expertise and knowledge, as well as the possibility of implementing joint programmes in the areas of training and capacity-building, institutional development and performance enhancement, human rights monitoring and documentation, and promoting awareness of international human rights standards and the rule of law.
The participants underscored the importance of developing channels of communication and coordination among the relevant institutions in order to enhance their effectiveness and independence, and to support access to justice and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, in accordance with national legislation and relevant international obligations.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to build sustainable institutional partnerships between national and international stakeholders and to exchange expertise and good practices, thereby contributing to the development of the justice system and the strengthening of human rights protection and the rule of law in Libya.
